In the 1930's through 1950's however, the BSA bicycles and components were well respected. WARTIME BICYCLES During the early 20th century, the bicycle was the easiest and most cost effective vehicle the military could purchase. In 1942, a contract was awarded to two bicycle manufacturers to produce the Government Model 519, or G519 Bicycle, to be used by all three branches of the United States Military. The contract was awarded to Westfield Columbia, Massachusetts and Dayton Huffman. To all who have asked about the bike, I have been very plain that is is A) a 'Bitsa' BSA, B) is a '68 according to the title, and C) has matching serial numbers that indicate the frame and engine cases are 1969 A65F model (title doesn't indicate model).
